Sachs Suspension Struts
The Sachs suspension strut features a similar design to the twin-tube damper and open the door to new suspensions designs, e.g. independent front suspension on distribution vans and larger vehicles.

Besides damping the Sachs suspension strut fulfills additional functions:

  • Performs wheel and axle control together with the wishbone
  • Absorbs coil spring forces via a spring cap (McPherson solution)
  • Supports braking torque
  • Absorbs or transmits steering movements of the wheel (for suspension struts with steering levers; not shown here)
  • Supports stabilizer mounts (not shown here)
  • Supports sensor and/or brake cable holders, ABS, CDC etc.
