Sport Brakes
ND Sport Brakes, high performance brake systems features special spiral gas slotted rotors with Mintex metallic pads. The special brake rotors allow the build up of hot gasses between the pad and rotor surface to escape via the groove. An additional benefit is the quick dissipation of water build up, which is due to the slots machined in a atom shaped groove.

ATE Power Disc, the first brake disc with a multipurpose groove: an attractively-designed innovative product for safety and comfort.

Mintex Pads:
We recommend Mintex pads for use with ATE Power Disc's. British Belts and Asbestos (BBA) is the parent company of Mintex and Textar, and until recently also owned Brake Clutch Industries of Australia which were the makers of Repco pads.

Mintex pads use an asbestos free metallic composition that allows for superior cold performance and reduces fade at high operating temperatures. We offer several compounds, each with different characteristics to customize to your specific needs.

These aftermarket pads are usually priced less than VW pads, and carry a 100% customer satisfaction warranty. To find the right set of pads for your car call us.

Reasons to upgrade:
Increased safety in wet conditions
The ATE PowerDisc's continuous groove safely absorbs moisture which might settle between brake disc and pad and drains it off, like the tread of a tyre. Braking action starts sooner and brake travel is shortened, as numerous instances of use in motorsport, testdrives and bench-tests have demonstrated.

Inspection at a glance
Visual, electric and acoustic wear-indicators have long been available for brake pads. Until now the expert glance in the workshop has generally had to suffice for brake discs, since precise measurement was costly: special measuring equipment was necessary and the wheels had to be removed. Now the multipurpose groove makes objective assessment of the condition of the brake disc possible at a glance. If the entire groove has been. worn away, the disc has reached its minimum thickness and must be replaced.

Scoring-free wear
The multipurpose groove's cleaning action causes the brake disc to wear more evenly. Even in heavy-duty use hardly any scoring occurs on the brake disc or pads.

Reduced fading
In hard use, brake discs can reach temperatures of 800° C and more. The result: gas emissions develop on the brake pad, primarily because of the bonding material, which can lead to a "Gas-Planing Effect" (fading). A temporary decrease in the coefficient of friction is the result. The ATE PowerDisc channels off these gas emissions via the multipurpose groove and so prevents fading. That means there is no increase in the force required to depress the brake pedal a plus for safety!

Braking in comfort
Unevenly worn brake discs tend to rub during braking. It is precisely in the particularly vibrations sensitive range from 90 to 130 km/in that the ATE PowerDisc's advantages over conventional brake discs come fully into play, with clear improvement in braking comfort as shown by the above diagram of a heavy-load test.

MINTEX Brake Pad Types:
Stock Replacements
The Mintex 1207 (Redbox): Close to stock braking behavior. The 1207 (Redbox) pad has a higher nominal index of friction (.4 vs .34) then the Silver Line pads they previously replaced.

High Performance Rating (HPR)
Mintex 1144 (Race/Rallye): This compound has a higher temperature and nominal friction coefficient (.45) rating than the 1207 and are typically used for extreme braking conditions.

Mintex 1155 (Race): Similar high performance range as the 1144 but with a .42 nominal friction coefficient rating. Note that the rear HPR pads only come in this compound.

MINTEX Brake Pad Installation Bedding In Procedures
Metallic pads such as Mintex require a bedding-in which, when done correctly, eliminates problems that may be encountered when installing high quality performance pads.

First, it is important to inform the customer that metallic pads should not be installed on a vehicle with worn rotors. A soft, organic pad will conform to the grooves in a worn rotor while a metallic pad will not. It is therefore essential to either replace or turn rotors when installing Mintex brake pads.

After installing Mintex pads they should be bedded-in to insure top performance.
Accelerate to approximately 40 M.P.H. and apply the brakes with moderate pedal pressure.
Slow to approximately 5 M.P.H.
Repeat this procedure 10 times allowing 1/3 of a mile between stops.
Do NOT attempt to bed-in pads by driving the vehicle with the brakes constantly applied. This will damage pads and result in decreased performance.
